The days of being punished with cheapness for wanting to actually have the capability to carry stuff are over!
The days of being restricted to the basey base trims are over if you want a pickup “the way the Gods intended!” Well, other than a few specific circumstances in certain countries. You’re probably outta luck anyway!
But in South Africa, if you look at the inconsistent trims for each bodystyle, you can indeed get a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in the fanciest Legend 50 trim. You cant get the single cab with the V6, but perhaps I could consolidate you with the availability of the 6 speed manual?
As for the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , you could get in the middle trim levels, which is pretty good for single cabs.
And
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
in high spec 300 LX 4x4 trim! An automatic option is really the only thing stopping it from being fully at the top though.
The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is available in top of the range Hi-Rider trim, although unlike the double cab versions, is not available with petrol or 4x4. The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was the only pickup I found sold in South Africa, and maybe in the world, which every trim is available for single and double cab. Other than that. Those are both older models though.
I don’t know why specifically South Africa is home to these loaded trucks. Sure pickup trucks are the highest selling vehicles in the country, but that’s also the case in North America, Australasia and Thailand to name a few, where regular cab options are usually just limited to the base trims.
Taking to other countries, I hear you could spec in America a last gen Ram 1500 decently well in regular cab, and in Mexico, they brought back the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Exclusive to the Middle East are regular cab short bed versions of the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! RST and Trail Boss...
Along with its sister model, the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which is available as a regular cab, for Elevation and AT4 trims. It seems in the Middle East, pickup trucks are seen more as specialist enthusiast toys rather than work vehicles, or daily drivers.

The funny thing about the ME is that the last time I was there they seemed to prefer big cars. Not sure why.

So GM still makes single cab short bed, just not for the US? Weird to think about because of how many pickup trucks they sell, even 1-2% seems like it would be worth offering.

I saw a 2010 or so 4x4 silverado the other day, looked like the LT package, I knew at that moment that I wanted a single cab full size truck.

I’ve been seriously eyeballing the late model Hilux selection down in Mexico. Once my wife and I get the house finished down there, I’d love to have on to keep there. Even more fun would be building it up a little and cruising around the States in it while #overlanding.

There are more and more pickups that don’t offer any regular cab models for the US market, not even base trim. Goes along with changing from being utility vehicles to family trucksters. That’s part of how I landed in an SUV instead of a pickup, couldn’t find what I wanted when I needed to buy so I picked the tradeoffs I was willing to make .

I didn't realize until just now that they only put the long bed on regular cabs now. Does still sells regular cab short bed F-150s at least.
